Did you see on our Instagram Stories (https://www.instagram.com/ldn_utd) that after months of hard work, and COVID disrupting our best laid plans, we opened our Camden office, known as the Centre Of Excellence, to a range of guests on March 18th? Stakeholders ranging from the Mayor's Office to our UTD EDN trainees to brands and esports friends were all in attendance to experience the venue, and all it has to offer.
Guests were greeted with a bar courtesy of The Fans Together, and water was supplied by Can O Water, with local pizza company Pizza Pilgrims making sure nobody went hungry. If they did, they could snack on Sweet Cabin treats. In between eating and drinking, there were plenty of FIFA matches in the console area, and Valorant competitions taking place on top spec Alienware PCs. Our UTD Futures Fortnite players Ryan and Jay took centre stage in the scrim room, playing trios with guests. The event ran long into the night, providing plenty of opportunities for networking, as well as some dubious karaoke renditions from Connor Ball and others, all played out on Bang And Olufsen's A9 speakers and Soundbar.
UTD EDN In addition to providing a day to day working environment, the COE is where we deliver our UTD EDN (Education) programme supporting young people to learn skills and provide employment opportunities. The trainees undertake 70 hours of work experience, and we tasked them with organising the Community Day that took place on April 2nd.
COMMUNITY DAY In the words of Russ and Eugene, two of the UTD EDN trainees: "LDN UTD was proud to have hosted its first Community Day at our Camden based Centre of Excellence on the 2nd April. The day was planned and run by trainees from the UTD EDN programme and was a roaring success. Throughout the day attendees had the opportunity for both casual sofa-gaming as well as more competitive focused VALORANT 5v5 custom games. The event brought gamers, both local and not-so-local, out of their rooms and into the venue to hang out, have a laugh, and make some friendships along the way."
GGs Russ and Eugene!
OPEN TO ALL XSET, a US esports org, have been using our scrim room for the last two weeks, as two of their Valorant players couldn't get to the US in time to compete (visa issues).
We have started to field more enquiries from other esports orgs about renting space, whilst we are also talking to a number of agencies about hosting product launches and bespoke events. The roof terrace is a hidden gem at the COE!
Open invite to come and see us. Just drop us an email, just like Blesma did!
